bella and santa

My favorite part of Bella’s visit with Santa this year:

santa: Did you write this list by yourself?
bella: Yes. I wrote it at home while watching a Santana dvd. Santana is a guitar player.
santa: Yes, I know that. You know what? He told me what he wants for Christmas, too.

roca berry farm

One day during Fall Break, we headed down to Roca Berry Farm for an afternoon of fun with friends. Our first trip two years ago was so different. Aside from the fact that it was freezing and we didn’t stay very long, Bella was so little! Here are some pics of our latest trip with my Big Girl.

my little bookworm

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

When I asked Bella if she minded if we stop at the library today, she asked if we could check out Fall Leaves Fall! They’ve been reading it in school.

I helped her look it up in the catalog and find it on the shelf. She borrowed my card and checked it out by herself at the self-checkout machine. Then she read it on the way home.

How long do you think before she asks for her own library card?

homemade granola

It was too cold and dreary to go apple picking today. Bella and I are making granola instead.

picnic

Today was our second picnic lunch this week. Now that the weather is cooling off, we’re trying to get as much outside time as possible. I hope the weather holds out for a few more. We’re loving Nebraska’s early Fall.

today…

Saturday, September 11th, 2010

Today I did not watch the news or any special coverage from nine years ago.

Today I gave my daughter extra hugs and kisses.

Today we colored, read books and played with dinosaurs.

Today I told her I loved her at least a million times.

Today I felt fear, sadness, shock, terror and loss all over again.

Today I remembered how our country can unite as Americans.

Today I am grateful for the brave passengers on Flight 93, who may have saved hundreds of lives in Washington, DC (including mine).

Today, and every day, I thank them.

giant ragweed

This nasty weed greets me every morning my daughter goes to nature school. It’s a little taller than me, so I’m guessing it’s around six feet tall. Six feet! Here’s a view of the walkway to school. Bella is that pink blur at the end of the path. She’s just over three feet tall, to give you some perspective.
