I didn't think it was for me. A spititual path is different from a religious path. Sometimes I think we get the two confused. I read A New Earth and The Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle. I love Tolle's way of writing and his philosophy. He writes about the same things we've heard over and over but somehow they seem new and bring the reader to a new creativity. Believe me, you'll see the world in a different way. As for the news, I try not to watch. It's too brutal. I scan the news on my home page and read only what I feel I need to know.
